Abe Lincoln was anti-slavery and he do that clear, but he was anti-blacks as well. He matte they were not educated enough to convey a say in political views which meant they should not be able to vote or have any say in our politics. Lincoln was successful in the 1860 election because he had popular votes in the north. He showed the slew that Doulgas was wrong in the Kansas-Nebraska exertion. Kansas ended up becoming a slave state and it broke into a civil war in which many people were killed. Abraham blamed Douglas for this and said he would end up spreading slavery into the west as well. The northerners were terrified of this idea.
